Hello and welcome!
We are so excited that you are interested in participating in Panhellenic Primary Recruitment at the University of New Mexico. Primary Recruitment is the formal process through which students can explore membership in one of UNM’s Panhellenic sororities, learn more about each chapter, and determine whether sorority membership may be the right fit for them.
Please read this page carefully before completing your registration. It includes important information about the recruitment process, participation expectations, registration requirements, costs, academic information, and what you can expect after registering.
This registration is specifically for Panhellenic Primary Recruitment. If you are interested in joining an IFC fraternity, NPHC organization, or another fraternity/sorority community at UNM, please contact the Fraternity and Sorority Life office for more information about those processes.
The 2026 Panhellenic Primary Recruitment process will begin on Thursday, August 20 and continue through Bid Day on Monday, August 24.
Potential New Members should plan to be available during the following times:
Thursday, August 20: 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Friday, August 21: 4:00–10:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 22: 3:00–7:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 23: 3:30–8:00 p.m.
Monday, August 24, Bid Day: 4:00–8:00 p.m.
It is important that participants are available and present for all recruitment events. Some absences may be excused for portions of Thursday and Friday, but participants must attend all events on Saturday and Sunday in order to remain eligible for the process.
If you already know you may have a conflict, that is okay. Please do not let that prevent you from registering. You will have the opportunity to submit absence or excuse requests later this summer.
Before beginning your registration, please be prepared to provide the following information:
Personal and contact information, including your preferred first name, middle name, phone number, UNM ID number, permanent home address, hometown, and zip code.
Parent or guardian information, including parent or guardian names and email address.
Academic information, including your high school name, high school graduation year, high school city and state, high school GPA, year in college, and, if applicable, the college or university you have attended and your college GPA.
If you do not know your UNM ID number or do not have one yet, you may enter 123456789 in that field.
You will also be asked to provide information about your school and community activities, such as student government, athletics, band, service organizations, employment, volunteer experiences, or other involvement. The registration form includes space to list multiple activities.
In addition, you will be asked to provide your T-shirt size, whether you will be registered as a full-time student at UNM in the fall, any dietary restrictions, where you plan to live during the fall semester, whether you have participated in sorority recruitment before, how you heard about recruitment, and whether you need any accommodations to fully participate in recruitment.
You will also have the opportunity to share whether any family members have been involved with a sorority or fraternity. This information is optional and is not required to participate in recruitment.
As part of your registration, you will be required to upload the following:
A current picture of yourself.
This photo helps Panhellenic and chapter members connect names with faces throughout the recruitment process. Please use a clear photo where you are easily recognizable.
A copy of your high school or most recent college transcript.
If you are an incoming first-year student, please upload your most recent high school transcript. If you are a current UNM student or transfer student, please upload your most recent college transcript.
Transcript files must be uploaded in PDF format. Please make sure the file name does not include special characters, such as symbols, punctuation marks, or emojis, as this may prevent the file from uploading correctly.
Academic performance is an important part of the Panhellenic recruitment process. Each Panhellenic chapter has its own academic expectations for membership, and GPA may be one factor chapters consider when making membership decisions.
To help students better understand how academics may affect their recruitment experience, Panhellenic uses the following grade zones:
Green Zone: 3.0 and above
Your options are not likely to be limited based on GPA.
Yellow Zone: 2.8–2.99
Your options may be more likely to be limited based on GPA.
Red Zone: Below 2.8
Your options are more likely to be limited based on GPA.
For incoming first-year students or students with limited college credit, your high school GPA will typically be used. For current college or transfer students, your cumulative college GPA will typically be used.
Please understand that meeting a GPA guideline does not guarantee membership in any organization, and GPA expectations may vary by chapter.
The registration fee for 2026 Panhellenic Primary Recruitment is $60.
This fee helps support the recruitment experience, including materials, recruitment technology, participant resources, and recruitment programming. Payment is required at the time of registration.
Completing registration and paying the recruitment fee allows you to participate in the recruitment process, but it does not guarantee an invitation to membership in any specific organization or an invitation to membership at the conclusion of recruitment.
Students who join a Panhellenic sorority should expect additional financial commitments after accepting membership. These costs vary by chapter and may include new member fees, chapter dues, national organization fees, facility or housing-related fees, social and sisterhood programming, apparel, and other chapter expenses.
Detailed financial information will be provided and discussed during recruitment so that Potential New Members can make informed decisions. We encourage participants to ask questions and carefully review the financial information shared by each chapter.
As part of registration, you will be asked to agree to a grade and information release. By completing the registration form, you certify that the information you provide is complete and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
You also grant permission for the UNM Student Activities Center to verify the information provided and to release relevant recruitment information, except your UNM ID number, to the Panhellenic sororities participating in recruitment.
Withholding or misrepresenting information may affect recruitment decisions and may make you ineligible for the recruitment process. Completion of the registration form is not a guarantee of membership.
After completing your registration, you will receive a confirmation email. Please save that email for your records. A receipt for your payment should be sent separately.
Later this summer, registered participants will receive additional information to help prepare for recruitment, including a recruitment guidebook and guidance about what to wear during recruitment events. While we know clothing and preparation can feel stressful, we want to emphasize that you do not need to purchase a new wardrobe for recruitment. We want you to be yourself and feel comfortable throughout the weekend.
You will also be contacted by a recruitment counselor, who will serve as a resource and support person throughout the recruitment process.
Recruitment can feel exciting, overwhelming, and confusing all at the same time. That is completely normal. The Panhellenic Council and Fraternity and Sorority Life staff are here to help you understand the process and feel as prepared as possible.
We encourage all registered participants to visit www.sororitylaunch.com and complete the Panhellenic Recruitment 101 online learning experience. This course provides helpful information about what it means to be a Panhellenic woman, what to expect during recruitment, and how the recruitment process works.
Completing this course is a great way to feel more confident and informed before recruitment begins.
The UNM Panhellenic Council and the Fraternity and Sorority Life office help coordinate the logistics of Primary Recruitment. This includes registration, recruitment counselor support, scheduling, communication, and helping ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible.
It is also important to understand that Panhellenic Council and Fraternity and Sorority Life do not make membership decisions on behalf of potential new members or chapters. Membership decisions are made through a mutual selection process between potential new members and individual chapters. Panhellenic and FSL staff are here to support the process, answer questions, and help participants navigate recruitment, but they do not determine invitations or membership outcomes.
Before completing your registration, please make sure the information you provide is accurate and that you use an email address you check regularly. Important recruitment updates, preparation materials, and communication from Panhellenic will be sent by email throughout the summer.
Please also make sure you have uploaded your required photo and transcript before submitting. Your transcript must be a PDF file, and the file name should not include special characters.
Once your registration is complete, please save your confirmation email for your records.
We are excited to meet you this fall and look forward to supporting you through the recruitment process.
